Jerrett Slacum was born at Fort Bragg, N.C. He had been living with his biological parents, but problems during his teen years strained their relationship.Now 19 years old, Jerrett is taking classes at ITT Technical Institute and learning through counseling sessions to control anger issues. He is working towards a degree in criminal justice and wants to be a police officer or lawyer.

Jerrett has added many personal touches to his well-kept apartment at Leaphart Place. His table is always set for company.

“The best thing about being out here is being, one, away from my family; and two, I live closer to my actual friends than I did when I was living with my parents,” he says “Plus, my family kind of put stress on me when I was living with them.”

Jarrett enjoys rollerblading and would like to give ice skating a try. He also likes to ride his bicycle but wishes there were more activities at Leaphart Place. “There’s not much to do around here.” Jerrett Slacum’s table is always set for company.

The 19-year-old Fort Bragg, N.C., native is taking classes at ITT Technical College and hopes to earn a degree in criminal justice.
