Whole Family Placement
Who we serve
Parents and their children with a variety of
issues:
• Lack of knowledge/ability/skills in how to
meet children’s needs
• Coping with mental and/or physical health
issues
• Alcohol and/or chemical dependency recovery
• Physical/sexual/emotional abuse issues that
are unresolved
• Homelessness
• Male dependency issues
• Educational/employment needs
• Developmental delays
How we serve them
• The parents, DSS case worker, and Growing Home
Southeast team assess what is in the best
interest of permanency for the child/ren in a
mutual, respectful, and timely fashion.
• Growing Home Southeast team assesses
parents’ strengths and needs.
• GHSE treatment parents provide intensive
hands-on training and mentoring for the
parent(s).
• Growing Home Southeast team and parent
develop a measurable goal plan that includes
taking care of self, living skills and
connectedness that creates a sense of belonging
for the participant parent and children.
Program benefits
• Produces permanency for child/ren early in
their development
• Enables biological parents to learn parenting
skills and living skills necessary to maintain a
household while dealing with their personal
issues
• Helps parents develop the skills needed to
carry out parental duties, make good decisions,
and exit the child welfare system
• Prevention of out-of-home placement of
children
Expected Outcomes
Whole Family Placement services aim to stabilize
families so that:
• Children will move on to permanency, with
this family or another.
• Parents will assess, understand, and
improve their parenting abilities.
• There are no new reports of child abuse/
neglect six months after the program completion.
